Description "Executive Challenge is a multiplayer, team-based business simulation in which participants build leadership, communications, and teamwork skills. The simulation challenges participants to think strategically and solve challenging real-world problems. Each participant takes a distinct role in the management team of a company that develops new products, manages a workforce, and responds to a changing, competitive business climate. Each participant uses a personal laptop that provides an interface with information and decisions specific to their role in the company. Players must work with their teams to develop and produce new products under tight time constraints, making strategic split-second decisions that ultimately determine the success or failure of their team’s business. Throughout the simulation, teams will face adverse events that will test their ethics and communication skills.
After each round of simulation play, teams see the effects of their business decisions. Participants can review financial reports and press releases to compare their success with that of their competitors.
Strategy is separated from execution in the simulation, and teams are allotted limited time to discuss their plans of action. In an eight-hour day, only about three hours are actually spent playing the simulation. The remainder of time is spent analyzing, strategizing, and debriefing. Carefully structured debriefing sessions force learners to reflect on actions taken – and not taken – during the simulation. This type of real-time coaching provides participants with immediate feedback so that “Aha!” moments are captured and reinforced."
